Assedium are born in the late 2003 by an idea of the bassist Drake, who recruits the vocalist Marco in the same period and then the axeman Guido and the Drummer Damien. Initially, the band plays some classic 80’s epic metal cover songs, but then starts to focus on its own material, based on Guido’s efforts. The first Assedium’s songs, as Sacred Vengeance and Legions of the Underworld, see the light together with the new cover song “Black Machine” by Cirith Ungol, one of the band fundamental for Assedium’s sound of the first period. In the June 2004, the band pick up Chicco as rhythm guitar, to complete the line-up and for obtaining a more powerful sound in the live gigs. Since the late 2004, Assedium plays several live gigs, also as opener for Jotenheim and the legendary Brocas Helm in the march 2005. It’s time also for the new songs: Cimmerian Steel (composed by Drake), the obscure Under the Black Stars and the title track of next coming demo Far From the Light, the live anthem of the band. Soon, in may 2005, the band enters the studio to record in 20 hours the first official demo, five original tracks and the Black Machine cover songs (later chosen for the official Cirith Ungol tribute “One Foot in Fire”, produced by Solemnity Music, release date on1st of March 2006). Far From the Light gets good reviews from the Italian and foreign criticism and then in October 2005 Assedium signs a deal with the Italian label My Graveyard Productions to produce the first full-length album.
During the recording sessions the singer was replaced by Luca "FILS" Cicero, (Deceptor, Fallin Fuckin'Angels) a man with great charisma on the stage and perfect for the style of the band. |
